On Wednesday 29 March, Article 50 of the Treaty of Lisbon was triggered, formally notifying the EU that the UK intends to withdraw from membership and starting the clock for leaving negotiations. After a rocky few years, the Global Emerging Markets sector has picked up in 2016, with the sector showing an increase of 31% over the year to date at the end of August.

Investment company growth story of the decade

Over a third of the investment company sector is invested in alternative assets as research suggests from the Association of Investment Companies (AIC). The term ‘alternative’ is used to cover many other types of investments that are not traded on stock markets. These might include the shares in private companies, physical property or infrastructure projects.

The Chinese New Year, also known as ‘Spring Festival’ in China, is China’s most important traditional festival. The 2016 Chinese New Year, ‘The Year of the Monkey’, commenced on Monday 8 February. Monkeys in the Chinese zodiac are ‘clever, mischievous and curious’, so we’ll have to see if this brings about a luckier year for Chinese financial markets.
